As some of you know, the Tea Party Express came to Omaha on August 31st, to Elmwood Park at 4:30 pm.

Now, I did not advertise it here for two reasons. One, quite honestly, I've been a little lax about putting up events on this site. But the second reason is due to the Tea Party Express's endorsement of Jon Bruning. Because of that endorsement, I believed this bus tour would be more of a campaign endorsement stop for Bruning versus what we saw back in April of 2010.

I was wrong. It turned out only to be a mild endorsement of Bruning and more of what we saw last year.

However, with the singing, the comedy, the rap by Politick, it showed something. The energy of the Omaha tea party movement has disappeared. The Tea Party Express tried their best to get people involved and active, and the people sat like lumps on a log in response. I was flitting all over the place to stream the event live on the Internet with my iPhone, and a couple of others were moving around trying to interact with people, but otherwise it was dead.

I'm sorry to say but we need to rekindle our energy if we want to beat Ben Nelson next November. We cannot have dead tired politicians getting up on the microphone and giving speeches. The Tea Party has always been about the people, people coming into politics and being active. We get the same old people coming now, and sorry, having the same old people running the show isn't working.

Mike Friend at AFP puts on much more exciting rallies than the one I just witnessed in Elmwood Park. He puts on more exciting rallies than what I saw on July 3rd. I can put on a more exciting rally myself than what I saw.

Frankly, I'm disappointed. We have to regain our energy. Things need to be changed up, because we have stagnated.
