DAKOTA CITY, Neb. -- A tea party will be held April 17, where Siouxlanders can come to discuss national issues.
The tea party movement, whereby groups of people weighed in with concerns about the direction of government, launched in April 2009. An April 15, 2009, tea party drew about 500 people at the Anderson Dance Pavilion on the Sioux City riverfront.
The name originated from Taxed Enough Already rallies.
The April 17 event will be held at 1:30 p.m. at Cottonwood Cove Park, 14th and Elm streets, in Dakota City. The event is billed as a patriotic, not political, town hall meeting in which knowledgeable nonpoliticians will hold question and answer sessions.
